How to trick yourself into getting MOTIVATED!

Have you ever been a position where you can’t seem to get motivated?

Motivation is a funny thing.  It is so hard to find but so easy to create.

I feel like the reason it is so hard to find is because people try to find it in the wrong places.

What do you mean Ray?

As a Beachbody coach, a lot of people tell me that they lack motivation and just need someone to give it to them.  And that’s the problem.  I can’t just give you motivation.

But what I can do is give you three REALLY GOOD steps to take to create it yourself.

Plan a trip

Yes!  Plan a trip.  And one where you wear the least amount of clothes as possible!

Think exotic beach 🙂

This is one of the MOST powerful forms of motivation.

I mean, you know that you are going to take TOOOONS of pictures.  And if you have been following a structured fitness and nutrition plan, then you will be more than happy to take those pics AND share them on Facebook.

Talk about MOTIVATION!

Sure, there is an extra expense to this form of motivation but it works!

And if it costs you a few extra bucks to light that fire under your butt…then who is to say its wrong?

Schedule an event

I just finished talking to a fraternity brother of mine who recently started P90X3.

And he was stoked to tell me that he signed up for the Spartan Race as well.

So I IMMEDIATELY gave him a virtual high five!  Because that is the second best way to get motivated.

Whether its a Spartan Race, a Tough Mudder or a 5k <here is a good way to find a race>, scheduling an event gives you a deadline and another source of fuel under your flame.

So I encourage you to find an event that you can put your hard work to use.

I know that whenever I am in a rut, I apply this technique.  It’s pretty easy to find a low cost race to participate in.

Make a bet

I wouldn’t be putting this down as a good way to get motivated if it didn’t work for me in the past.

The funny thing is that having a bet with my best friend is what started my whole fitness journey.

No matter how hard I worked out in the gym, it wasn’t until I made a bet <and a little help from P90X>, that it all came together.

The bet was for $200 on who could get into the best shape in 90 days.

After my 90th day of pressing play, I emailed my buddy my after pics.  All I got back from him was a bank deposit.

So if it can work for me, why can’t it work for you?

If you don’t have a friend who is game to a small wager, you can still apply this form of motivation on this site. Its a community of people betting on theirselves and their fitness goals.

CONCLUSION

At the end of the day, I found that motivation comes from within.

And with a little creativity, I found these 3 ways the best methods of getting myself motivated.  Hopefully they can work for you as well.
